Our ultimate goal is to uplift the work of Latinx-led and serving grassroots organizations across the state because we know they are best able to respond to the needs of our community.

When Hurricane Helene hit North Carolina in October 2024, we created this brief to spread awareness of the barriers and challenges Latinx communities faced Western NC. The brief includes trusted Latinx led and serving organizations in the region who were first responders to the crisis.

The recovery of the region is still ongoing and we encourage donors and foundations to continue supporting these organizations and their important work.

The NC Latinx Collaborative made an initial total contribution of $60,000 in emergency aid to 10 of the groups mentioned in the brief. Many of the groups continue to receive support form the Collaborative through our grantmaking cycles.
